imranpreet Kaur* was anxious and desperate when she came to us at Jannee Fertility Centre this year. She had faced disappointment a month ago when her first IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) cycle failed at one of the private IVF centres in Chandigarh.
When Simranpreet visited our IVF centre in Chandigarh she was keen to try IVF once again. However, Dr. Nirmal Bhasin, Founder and Director – Jannee Fertility Centre, advised her to opt for IUI (Intra Uterine Insemination/Artificial Insemination) as all parameters of female fertility were normal and only her husband had retrograde ejaculation (condition in which semen enters the bladder instead of getting released through the penis during orgasm). After long hours of counseling, Simranpreet agreed to try IUI before undergoing another IVF cycle. Simranpreet was induced for ovulation while her husband was given alkalisers. On the day of IUI sperms were retrieved from her husband’s urine sample. Three weeks later the Urine Pregnancy Test was performed and the result was positive to everyone’s delight. A patient who was ready to go for IVF was counseled by our doctor to try IUI which costs 30 times less. In today’s era, when doctors are looked down upon as greedy and unethical, Dr. Nirmal breaks the stereotype by putting patient’s welfare ahead of anything else.
