Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) or Plasma Rich in Growth Factors is now available at Jannee Fertility Centre, Chandigarh, to treat patients with thin endometrium and recurrent miscarriages. GFC is an autologous serum prepared from patient’s blood. It involves separating platelet rich plasma or PRP from blood and then activating the platelets to release the growth factors. Usually, 0.5-1 ml of GFC is infused into the uterine cavity of the female on Day 10 of the IVF/IUI cycle which helps increase the thickness of the uterus lining to 7 mm or above: a thickness that is optimal for implantation of the embryo. If endometrial lining does not increase to 7mm within 72 hours, then GFC infusion can be done 1-2 times more in the cycle.
PRP for thin endometrium is offered by many IVF centres throughout India and abroad now. In PRP treatment, platelets get activated inside the body and release their growth factors. However, at Jannee we go one step further from PRP. We activate the platelets in the lab to release their growth factors and then infuse these growth factors into the uterus. The results with growth factors are better and faster as compared to PRP alone.
